The bus just left about a half-hour ago. He had us at the bus stop 40 minutes early!! He was excited. So was I. Then I came in the house and called my husband to tell him our "baby", our first, our son had offically begun his Kindergarten journey.
I got voicemail.
And then I cried.
I'm speechless, and besides, the preschooler (who will start on Friday) is demanding I help her paint with watercolors. Instead I'll let the photos speak for me:

Awww... the next chapter. I will cry too when that day comes!
what bravery! he's going to do great.
and you? you'll be fine. I give it two weeks, tops, when you start doing a happy dance as soon as you realize the house can be quiet for just. a. moment.
Oh, man. I remember that day so well. It was heart-wrenching. BUT! You do get used to it and it's easier. Every year when the kids go back to school it takes me a few weeks to figure out what to do with myself. Then, when they get off the bus, things finally seem normal again. ;)
I so feel your pain.
Thank you, by the way, for reminding me to get my own entry posted to the blog.
I've just done precisely that, and hope you'll give it a read. I suspect you'll relate.
Oh he's so little and that bus is so big. I'm impressed you waited until you go the voicemail to cry.
I'm already worried about it -- and my daughter is only 3!
Ah and the road has forked and leads to his future. Let his smile shine in your heart always
